Merseyside Police have issued a wanted appeal for Stephen Dumbell, 56, from Fairfield, who failed to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court twice to answer charges for drug offences and handling stolen goods. He is now subject to a no bail warrant.
Description and Links
Dumbell is described as 5ft 6in tall, of slim build, with grey hair and blue eyes. He has connections to the city centre, Toxteth, Kensington, and Wavertree areas.
Previous Conviction
In 2017, the Liverpool ECHO reported that Dumbell and another man approached a couple at their home in Goodison Road, Walton, brandishing what appeared to be a gun. Kelly and Rebecca Fyles answered the door to Dumbell and his accomplice, who asked to see someone not at the address. While the couple's two children slept upstairs, Dumbell repeatedly shouted, “I just want the money.”
Prosecutor Ken Grant told Liverpool Crown Court that Dumbell then produced what the “terrified” women believed was a gun and attempted to force his way into their home. The couple blocked the entrance and pushed him out before calling police on October 23, 2016.
Dumbell was arrested days later and denied involvement despite being identified in an identity parade. He initially denied attempted robbery and possession of an imitation firearm but later admitted robbery on the basis that he was holding a black bicycle pump. Prosecutors accepted this, and he was jailed for five years.
