Dramatic footage has captured a speeding car ramming into a parked vehicle on a quiet village main street in Fife, leaving a teenage passenger in hospital and police searching for the driver.

The incident happened in Coaltown of Balgonie at around 4am on Friday, October 23. A 19-year-old passenger in the vehicle was taken to hospital, and police have launched a manhunt to trace the driver.

Collision on Main Street

Clips shared on social media show a white Renault Clio roaring down Main Street before colliding with a stationary car. The parked car, surrounded by homes, was pushed down the road, while the Clio spun several times before coming to a halt a few metres away.

Images shared on the local community Facebook page Fife Jammer Locations show the extent of the damage after the car stopped outside The Balgonie Arms, a family-run pub. The vehicle is completely wrecked, with its front bonnet ripped off and debris, including a tyre and other car parts, strewn across the ground.

Resident's Doorbell Footage

The front window screen is smashed, one of the passenger doors is caved in, and both airbags inflated due to the impact. Two police officers and a marked police van can be seen attending the scene.

A resident who captured the incident on doorbell camera footage said the thief "done a runner". Locals took to social media to express their concern, with comments including "That's some speed" and "All that space right hand side but they preferred hitting car".

Police Investigation Underway

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4.15am on Friday, 23 October, we received a report of a car crashing into a parked vehicle on Main Street, Coaltown of Balgonie. The passenger, a 19-year-old man, was taken to hospital. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver."

This comes a month after a separate incident in which a robbery gang targeted a car garage in West Lothian in a 'stolen to order' operation. Masked thieves were captured on CCTV stealing alloys and driving equipment worth thousands from Hardie Recovery Services in Polbeth in the early hours of Monday, August 31.

The gang worked in two groups, with youngsters in tracksuits arriving around midnight to scout the premises. A second group of masked men, wearing head torches and gloves, arrived two hours later and made off with unique gold alloys, BMW goods and tools worth more than £7,000. Garage boss William Hardie believes the organised crime gang were operating with a list of items stolen to order.
