West Yorkshire Police have launched an urgent and widespread search for the mother of a newborn baby boy who was found abandoned on a street in Bradford. The infant was discovered wrapped in a towel, prompting major concerns for the welfare of both the child and his mother.
The distressing discovery was made by a member of the public on Saturday evening at approximately 21:20 GMT on Wrose Road. The baby was found completely alone, wrapped in a blue and black towel, with his umbilical cord still attached.
Major Concerns for Mother's Welfare
Detective Chief Inspector James Stubbs of Bradford District Police has voiced grave concerns for the mother's health and wellbeing. "We are growing increasingly worried about the mother and her welfare, as she has been through an incredibly traumatic ordeal and will require immediate medical attention," he stated.
Authorities are urging the mother, or anyone who knows her, to come forward without delay. The primary focus is on ensuring she receives the critical postnatal care she urgently needs.
