Police in Bradford are urgently searching for the mother of a newborn baby whose body was discovered wrapped in a beach towel on a street. The infant was found on Bowling Back Lane, and officers have been scouring a nearby waste recycling centre as part of their investigation.
West Yorkshire Police confirmed the baby, believed to be a newborn, was wrapped in a pink towel featuring the island of Fuerteventura. The force has not disclosed the baby's sex but stated that its primary concern is locating the mother to ensure she receives necessary medical care and support.
Sara Hollins, head of midwifery at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, appealed directly to the mother or anyone who knows her. 'Our main priority is to find the mum of the baby as we are concerned for her wellbeing and want to ensure she gets the appropriate medical care and support,' she said. 'We are urging mum or any friends of mum to call the police.'
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether anyone has been arrested in connection with the incident. The investigation continues as police work to trace the mother and establish the full circumstances surrounding the baby's death.
