Police Respond to Welfare Concerns at Dennis Estate
Two young children, aged one and two, were rushed to hospital after Lincolnshire Police officers were dispatched to a housing estate in Kirton on Wednesday, July 8, following concerns about the welfare of children at an address. The force confirmed that the toddlers were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Arrests Made and Bail Granted
A 23-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of neglect. They have since been released on bail with conditions while detectives continue their investigation. Detective Inspector Claire Rimmer, leading the investigation, stated: "As part of our investigation we need to complete a significant number of inquiries. While these are happening, we have released the two people who were arrested on bail, with conditions."
Complex Investigation Underway
DI Rimmer emphasised the complexity of the case, saying: "This is a complex investigation and I ask people not to speculate around the facts as it could lead to evidence being undermined and affect our investigation, which I know no-one would wish for." She added: "The most important people in this investigation are two children, who have a right to anonymity and the best care anyone can give."
Lincolnshire Police confirmed that their investigation remains ongoing and urged the public not to speculate about the circumstances. No further details about the children's condition have been provided at this stage.
