Two Men Shot in Targeted Attack in Prescot

Two teenagers are at the centre of attempted murder investigations after a spate of shootings on Merseyside in January. The incidents, which damaged eight homes, saw armed police deployed across Kirkby, Huyton, Kirkdale, and Prescot.

Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward. Detective Superintendent Richie Salter said: 'It feels like there has been a lot because in December it drops - this December there were two. A lot of that we would expect is because off the back of an incident somebody could ring us with a little bit of information and somebody could go to jail over Christmas.'

Four teenagers, including a 13-year-old, have been charged with attempted murder following the Prescot attack. Police are keen for dashcam footage or any gossip that could help understand the full picture.

In a separate incident on Wimborne Close, Huyton, two males in dark clothing argued with a victim before firing at least four shots, hitting him twice. The victim fled into a home and was discovered during door-to-door enquiries.

Major police activity has followed, with patrols increased in Kirkby and Huyton. Twelve guns were seized in December and 68 across 2019. Officers believe the attacks stem from local disputes rather than cross-Merseyside conflict.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police via Twitter (@MerPolCC), call 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
