Two arrested after woman found dead in Liverpool hotel

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead in a Liverpool city centre hotel last weekend.

Emergency response

Police were called to The White Star Line Hotel on James Street by North West Ambulance Service just after 3.20am on Saturday, August 1. Paramedics had received a report that a 40-year-old woman had become unwell.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, and her next of kin have been informed. The woman's death is being treated as unexplained.

Post mortem and arrests

A post mortem has been carried out to establish her cause of death, with results withheld pending toxicology reports.

A 47-year-old man from Kirkby and a 34-year-old woman from Liverpool have both been arrested on suspicion of murder. A 31-year-old man from Liverpool has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Ongoing investigation

All three have been conditionally bailed while enquiries are ongoing. Police forensic vans were spotted outside the hotel yesterday evening.
