Tributes have been paid to a "lovely" woman after she was found dead at a Liverpool city centre hotel. Police were called to The White Star Line Hotel on James Street by the North West Ambulance Service at around 3.20am on Saturday, August 1, following reports a woman had become unwell.
Paramedics attended but the 40-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed. The ECHO understands the woman was Suzanne Menagh, from the Liverpool area.
Investigation ongoing
Her death is currently being treated as unexplained. A post-mortem examination has been carried out to establish the cause of death, with the results withheld pending further tests.
In the days since Suzanne's death, heartfelt tributes have been shared across social media by friends, former colleagues and members of the community.
Tributes from community
Ry's Competitions, based in Bootle, described Suzanne as a "valued and loyal member" of its community. In a tribute, the company said: "From everyone at Ry's Competitions, we would like to offer our heartfelt condolences to the Menagh family following the sad loss of Suzanne. She was always a pleasure to have as part of our community. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Melissa, the entire Menagh family, and all those who knew and loved Suzanne during this incredibly difficult time. Rest in peace, Suzanne."
Many others also shared messages in Suzanne's memory. Darhyl Sharp wrote: "She had a heart of gold. Still can't get my head around it. RIP Sue, you will be missed." Amme Snobbig said: "Lovely girl. She's going to be missed by so many. R.I.P Sue." Leanne Kelly posted: "I can't believe you have gone, not going to see you again. Thinking of your mum, dad and sisters at this sad time."
Kenny Fields wrote: "Thinking of all the Menagh family at this very sad time. Rest in peace, Suzanne. Gone far too soon. You will be sadly missed." Olivia Lomas said: "Rest in peace Suzanne. The world is a cruel place." Amy Benson added: "Absolutely devastating news. Fly high angel."
Honey Blossom Pomfret also paid tribute, writing: "Someone I worked with has sadly passed away. I haven't spoke for a while with her but got on with her. She was a really lovely woman. RIP Suzanne Menagh. My prayers go out to your family and loved ones."
Arrests made
As part of the ongoing investigation, a 47-year-old man from Kirkby and a 34-year-old woman from Liverpool have been arrested on suspicion of murder. A 31-year-old man from Liverpool has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All three have been conditionally bailed while enquiries continue.
Two police forensic vans were seen outside The White Star Line Hotel yesterday evening (August 3) as officers continued their investigation. A spokesperson for The White Star Line Hotel said: "Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the deceased at this time. We are assisting the police in their enquiries in any way we can."
