Family Pays Tribute to 'Cheeky Chappie' Aaron, 14, After Fatal Farm Crash

The family of a 14-year-old boy who died after a farm vehicle overturned in County Durham has paid tribute to him as a 'cheeky chappie' with an 'amazing work ethic'. Aaron Anderson sustained life-threatening injuries when a John Deere Gator was involved in a collision at a farm in Burnopfield on the evening of 21 December.

Aaron was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, where he died on Boxing Day. His family described him as 'a much-loved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend' who 'will be missed by all who knew him'. They added that he was 'always happiest working on farms and fixing trucks' and had already received two apprenticeship offers.

Police were called to the farm at 8.25pm. A 13-year-old boy who also sustained serious injuries in the incident has since been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home. An investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances of the collision.
