TikTok star Cesar Gastelum, a comedian with 600,000 followers, was shot dead on Tuesday (August 4) outside a fast food restaurant in Culiacan, Mexico. Two armed gunmen riding a motorcycle approached him while he was livestreaming, and one fired directly at him.
Security operation launched
Local authorities confirmed his death, and a security official said a “significant security operation” is now underway to investigate the killing. The attackers wore helmets, and the incident was captured on the livestream.
Not an isolated case
This is not the first time an influencer has been killed on livestream in Mexico. In May 2025, beauty TikToker Valeria Marquez was shot dead at the salon where she worked.
Tributes pour in
Fans have paid tribute to Cesar, with one writing: “RIP bro, fly high.” Another said: “How sad – our own people killing us.” A third wrote: “Rest in peace, Cesar.”
The news comes a day after reality star Mano Machinek died at age 37 in a car crash while filming an advert in Italy.
