Three generations of women have been arrested following the death of a seven-year-old girl who had more than 90 injuries on her body, prosecutors in New York have confirmed. The child, Jor'Dynn Duncan, suffered extensive abuse and torture inside a home in Bayport, Long Island, allegedly at the hands of three female relatives.
Details of the case
The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office announced that 50-year-old Emily Kelly, who had custody of Jor'Dynn, along with her mother and daughter, were indicted in connection with the girl's death. Jor'Dynn was placed in Kelly's care by Child Protective Services in December 2024, and Kelly obtained full custody in April 2025.
Prosecutors revealed that investigators discovered photographs and videos on Kelly's cellphone and cloud-based accounts documenting the abuse, which dated back to January 2025. The torture included prolonged restraint, physical injuries, and the withholding of medical care. Jor'Dynn missed 40 days of school between January and June 2025, which authorities believe was due to the abuse.
The fatal incident
On December 29, 2025, Kelly called 911 to report that Jor'Dynn was in cardiac arrest. Paramedics rushed the unresponsive child to a nearby hospital, where she later died. An autopsy determined the cause of death to be a massive untreated infection resulting from approximately 90 sharp force injuries.
“This was not an alleged single act of violence. It was months of alleged systematic cruelty and sadistic abuse, meticulously documented,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney. “The child was allegedly left to die while these defendants watched her deteriorate. No child should ever endure such horror, and we will seek justice for Jor'Dynn.”
Charges and bail
Emily Kelly has been indicted on charges of murder, reckless endangerment, unlawful imprisonment, and endangering the welfare of a child. She is being held on $5 million cash bail or a $10 million bond. Kelly's mother, 75-year-old Barbara Renner, was charged with second-degree manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child, with bail set at $50,000 cash or $500,000 bond. Kelly's daughter, 24-year-old Elyssa Seymore, faces charges of unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child, and is being held on $25,000 cash bail or $250,000 bond. All three women are due back in court on June 23.
