Three Teens Arrested After Heswall Bus Station Knife Brawl

Three teenagers have been arrested following a knife fight at Heswall Bus Station in Merseyside on Saturday evening, July 4. Emergency services responded to the scene on Telegraph Road around 6:35 pm after a brawl broke out among a group of teenagers.

Injuries and Arrests

Merseyside Police reported that two boys were found with injuries—one to his chest and the other to his finger—believed to have been caused by a bladed weapon. They were taken to hospital for assessment, but their injuries are not considered life-threatening. The brawl is thought to have occurred shortly after a bus arrived at the station, and witnesses reported that more than one blade was used. Following the stabbings, the large group of teens scattered, using side streets to flee the scene.

Steve Shakeshaft told the Liverpool Echo that a heroic man, believed to be in his 40s, wrestled one of the boys to the ground, knelt on him, and kicked the knife away. The knife was described as large, and other knives were present during the fight, which unfolded just a few hundred metres from busy bars and restaurants. Another man, who works in a nearby takeaway, said he and his co-workers ran out to see what had happened when police descended on the main road in the quiet Wirral village.

Police Investigation and Appeal

On Monday, July 7, Merseyside Police announced the arrests: a 15-year-old male from Birkenhead on suspicion of possession of a bladed article, Section 18 wounding with intent, and affray; a 17-year-old male from Tranmere on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent and affray; and a 15-year-old male from Tranmere on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent. All three have been bailed with conditions, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter Stephenson said: “Although we have arrested three males in connection with the incident, we continue to make enquiries into what took place to ensure those involved are held to account. With this I urge people in the area to check your CCTV, doorbell and dashcam footage to see if it has captured any footage, no matter how small, as any information may help with the investigation. Knives have no place in our communities and can have tragic consequences, not only for the victim and their family but also for the offenders involved. I would urge people to educate themselves and speak to their children and family members about the dangers of knife crime.”
