A 17-year-old girl has died following a "medical episode" at Kendal Calling festival in Cumbria. The teenager passed away in the early hours of the morning after suffering the health issue at around 2.15am.
Cumbria Police are looking into the circumstances after the girl was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics. Emergency services from the North West Ambulance Service attended and administered CPR, but could not save her.

More than 40,000 people are attending the four-day music and arts festival, held annually at Lowther Deer Park in the Lake District. Headliners include Wolf Alice, Primal Scream, Biffy Clyro, Scissor Sisters and Groove Armada.
Police appeal
Officers have asked for anyone in the Calling Out tent area and the Big Wheel at the time of the tragedy to get in contact. Cumbria Police said in a statement: "Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time. Officers are particularly keen to speak with a group of women who alerted first responders to the girl after becoming concerned for her welfare."
The teenager's family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Festival organisers' response
A Kendal Calling spokesperson said: "The team at Kendal Calling are deeply saddened by the passing of a festival attendee in the early hours of Sunday morning following a medical episode.
"As soon as the individual became unwell, they were immediately attended to by our on-site security and medical teams. Paramedics and medical personnel provided emergency care at the scene and did everything they could to help.
"We extend our deepest sympathies to the individual's family, friends and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. We are supporting the relevant authorities and will continue to assist them with their investigation."
