Teen Girl Snatched at Knifepoint in Cheshire Traumatised After Ordeal
Teen Snatched at Knifepoint in Cheshire Traumatised

A 15-year-old girl who was bundled into a van at knifepoint and held captive for seven hours has been left 'traumatised' by her ordeal, though she was not physically harmed. The teenager was snatched from a quiet, tree-lined street in the affluent Cheshire village of Bowdon, near Altrincham, where homes are valued at over £1 million, on Monday evening.

Abduction and Discovery

She was reported missing within two hours of the abduction. In the early hours of Tuesday, she was discovered in a hotel car park in Knutsford, Cheshire. A police source told the Daily Mail: 'Specialist officers are caring for her now. She wasn't physically hurt but it was a terrifying experience for her. She's obviously traumatised by it.'

Investigation Underway

Detectives were seen speaking to residents on Bradgate Road in Bowdon on Wednesday, seeking CCTV footage of the kidnapping. However, many houses are set back from the road, limiting potential evidence. One homeowner stated: 'Police in plain clothes with badges around their necks came knocking. They were asking for CCTV footage but most people don't cover the road. It's really scary that a girl was taken here. She must have been terrified.'

Dog walker Mike Owen, 54, commented: 'It's a real shock that it's happened here. But you get a lot of vans driving up and down the street working on some of the big houses round here. And people also walk their dogs a lot round here as there are parks and woods. I thought it sounded like a kidnapping for ransom when I first heard about it.'

Suspect Arrested

Greater Manchester Police confirmed on Tuesday that a 56-year-old white male had been arrested and remained in custody for questioning. It is understood that the incident is being treated as a random attack, and the teenager was not known to the suspect.

The area where the abduction occurred is a highly sought-after suburb on the outskirts of Manchester, known to be home to footballers such as Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire. Bradgate Road is just minutes from the upscale Dunham Country Club.
