Ex-Police Officer Launches Podcast to Solve Unsolved Murders of Scots Abroad

Former senior investigating officer David Swindle has launched a new podcast, 'Swindle's Search For The Truth', aiming to solve unsolved crimes, particularly those involving Scots who died abroad. The podcast delves into high-profile cases including the deaths of Kirsty Maxwell and Craig Mallon.

Kirsty Maxwell, 27, from Livingston, West Lothian, died in April 2017 while on a hen party in Benidorm, Spain. She fell from the 10th floor balcony of Apartamentos Payma, a room occupied by five British men. A Spanish judge ruled there was 'no evidence' of involvement by the occupants, but her family continues to press for further investigation.

Craig Mallon, 26, from Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, was killed by a single blow outside Rockefellers nightclub in Lloret de Mar, Spain, in the early hours of May 19, 2012. He was on his brother's stag do when a group of young men, believed to be French, attacked him. Despite eyewitness accounts, local authorities were unable to solve the case.

Swindle, who spent over 30 years in the police force, said the podcast is a 'new concept for the true crime world', urging listeners to help piece together unsolved cases. He noted that victims' families often do not receive adequate support, and the podcast aims to involve the public in solving these mysteries.

The podcast will feature episodes in different languages, covering cases in Spain, India, Goa, and Mexico. Swindle hopes that by engaging listeners actively, they can contribute to resolving these tragedies.
