An 18-year-old man has tragically died at Dovestone Reservoir in Greater Manchester, prompting police to issue a fresh warning about the dangers of swimming in open water. Emergency services were called to the popular beauty spot in Oldham at around 7pm on Friday, July 10, 2026, following reports of a person in difficulty.
Police Confirm Death at Scene
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that officers attended the scene alongside paramedics. The teenager was found unresponsive in the water and, despite the best efforts of medical professionals, was pronounced dead at the scene. A police cordon remains in place as investigations continue.
