A teenage boy has been charged with attempted murder after a man in his 60s was allegedly stabbed while walking through a golf course in Staffordshire. The incident occurred on Thursday, May 14, when emergency services were called to the Castlefields area following reports of a serious assault.
Details of the Attack
The victim, a man in his 60s, was walking along a public footpath that runs through Stafford Castle Golf Club at approximately 7pm when he was approached from behind and sustained multiple stab wounds. He was subsequently rushed to hospital, where he remains in a critical but stable condition. Detectives believe the attack was unprovoked.
Suspect Charged
Staffordshire Police have confirmed that a 17-year-old boy, described as White and of Bulgarian nationality, was arrested on Tuesday evening, May 19. He has been charged with attempted murder and theft from a shop. Due to his age, he cannot be named for legal reasons. The teenager is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Saturday, May 23.
Ongoing Investigation
Specialist officers continue to provide support to the victim and his family. A 30-year-old man who was also arrested in connection with the incident has been released with no further action. Police have urged the public to avoid speculation or commentary on social media while legal proceedings are ongoing.
The force spokesperson stated: "A teenager has been charged after a man was stabbed in Stafford.
