A murder investigation has been launched by Greater Manchester Police after a man was found stabbed to death in the Harpurhey area of Manchester.

The tragic discovery was made by emergency services on Woodlands Road at approximately 10:40 PM on Tuesday night. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the victim, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a significant development, a 17-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody for questioning as detectives work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The area on Woodlands Road, between Moston Lane East and Rochdale Road, has been sealed off as a major crime scene. A large police presence, including forensic teams, is conducting a meticulous examination of the area to gather crucial evidence.

Detective Superintendent Neil Jones of GMP's Major Incident Team is leading the investigation. He stated, "This is a tragic incident in which a young man has lost his life. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this devastating time."

He urged the public for cooperation, adding, "We have a team of dedicated officers working to establish the full circumstances and we are following a number of lines of enquiry.
