A tense police operation sent shockwaves through Sydney's southwestern suburbs on Tuesday as authorities launched a major hunt for suspects following a violent crime spree that spanned multiple locations.
The dramatic series of events began in Revesby around 1:30 pm when a 39-year-old man was violently carjacked by two assailants. The victim was reportedly assaulted during the terrifying ordeal before the thieves made off with his black Toyota RAV4.
Armed Robbery at Condell Park Service Station
Just hours later, the stolen vehicle was spotted at a Condell Park service station where the suspects allegedly committed an armed robbery. Witnesses reported seeing the men threatening staff with weapons before fleeing the scene with undisclosed items.
The crime spree triggered an immediate and substantial police response, with multiple units descending on the area. Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command coordinated the operation as the hunt for the dangerous suspects intensified.
High-Speed Pursuit Through Suburban Streets
Police soon located the stolen Toyota and initiated a pursuit that wound through suburban streets, creating chaos and concern among local residents. The high-speed chase continued until the suspects abandoned the vehicle in Condell Park and fled on foot.
"There was a massive police presence everywhere," one local shopkeeper reported. "You could hear sirens from every direction, and officers were running through streets with their weapons drawn. It was terrifying."
Ongoing Investigation and Community Alert
As darkness fell, police established multiple crime scenes and continued their search for the two male suspects. Forensic teams were seen examining the abandoned vehicle while other officers conducted door-to-door inquiries.
Authorities have urged residents in Revesby, Condell Park, and surrounding areas to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately. The suspects are considered dangerous and should not be approached.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from multiple locations and appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information that might assist their investigation.
