One of the perpetrators behind the notorious 2014 Slender Man stabbing has vanished after removing her electronic monitoring device and escaping from a group home in Wisconsin.
Dramatic Escape from Mental Health Facility
Morgan Geyser, now 23 years old, fled the Madison facility on Saturday night according to official reports. The young woman, who had been granted conditional release earlier this year, was last seen with an adult acquaintance, and her location remained unknown as of Sunday morning.
Geyser had been placed at the group home as part of her treatment for a psychotic spectrum disorder. Her disappearance represents a serious breach of her release conditions and has triggered an extensive search operation by local authorities.
Chilling 2014 Attack That Shocked America
The case dates back more than a decade to a horrific incident that captured international attention. In 2014, when all three girls were just 12 years old, Geyser and her accomplice Anissa Weier lured their friend Peyton Leutner into the woods of Waukesha during a sleepover.
What followed was a brutal assault that left Leutner fighting for her life. Geyser carried out the stabbing, attacking her friend 19 times while Weier reportedly encouraged the violent act. The two then abandoned their victim, leaving her to die in the woodland area.
Miraculously, Leutner managed to crawl out of the woods and was discovered by a passing cyclist, surviving the vicious attack despite her extensive injuries.
Sinister Motivation and Ongoing Consequences
Investigations revealed that Weier and Geyser had planned the murder for months, motivated by their belief in the fictional horror character Slender Man. They intended to commit the killing as a sacrifice to the internet-born boogeyman.
The case raised significant questions about juvenile violence, mental health treatment, and the influence of online horror content on vulnerable young people. Both perpetrators were sentenced to lengthy terms in mental health institutions rather than adult prisons due to their age and psychological conditions.
Geyser's recent escape and disappearance now present new challenges for the Wisconsin justice system and mental health authorities, who must balance public safety concerns with ongoing treatment needs for the now-adult offender.
