The search for a man who disappeared 34 years ago has ended in tragedy, with his family informed that he has been located deceased abroad.
Patrick (Patsy) O’Sullivan was 35 years old when he went missing in 1992. His last known contact with his family was in Lombardstown, County Cork, in April of that year, on the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, after he had returned from work in County Kerry.
Family Never Gave Up Hope
O’Sullivan was due to return to see his family in the following weeks for a Christening, but he never turned up at the event and has been missing ever since. He would often go away to work for weeks at a time in different locations, but he would always maintain contact with his family and return periodically.
Over the years, his family never gave up hope of finding him and made a fresh appeal for information as recently as July of this year. They also used social media to appeal to people in County Kerry and beyond for any information they might have, no matter how small.
Case Shared on Crimecall
The case of his disappearance was also shared on Crimecall on a number of occasions, including last year, when he would have been 68 years old. O’Sullivan was the middle child of seven siblings, with his two brothers previously speaking to RTÉ about the pain they have felt since he went missing.
His brother Jerry simply put it: “He just stopped coming home.” Jerry also recalled his brother having a “heart of gold”, while other brother Eugene said he always “enjoyed his life to the full.”
Garda Confirmation
In an update, a Garda spokesperson said: "The missing person, Patrick (Patsy) O’Sullivan, whose last known contact with his family was in Lombardstown, County Cork in April 1992, has been located."
An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and public for their assistance.
