A woman has died after being struck in the neck by a wind-blown umbrella while dining at a restaurant in South Carolina. The incident occurred on Saturday evening at the Driftwood Grill in Summerton.
The victim, identified as Dana Weinger, was eating outside on the patio with her husband when a strong gust of wind lifted the table umbrella, causing it to strike her in the throat. Despite the efforts of first responders, she died at the scene from severe lacerations.
In a statement on Facebook, the Driftwood Grill expressed gratitude for the support from the community, noting that the accident has deeply affected staff, guests, first responders, and families.
