Royal Guards Probed for Sleeping on Duty at Windsor

About 30 Metropolitan Police officers responsible for protecting the royal family at Windsor Castle are under formal investigation following allegations that they fell asleep and abandoned their posts while on duty.

Investigation Launched

The Met's Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) has initiated a probe into the conduct of the officers, as reported by The Sun. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has been informed of the inquiry, but the Metropolitan Police will lead the local investigation.

Potential Restrictions

A decision is expected by the end of next week on whether any of the officers under scrutiny will be placed on restrictive duties. The allegations involve armed officers who were supposed to be guarding King Charles at Windsor Castle.
