Ricky Martin Safe After Tear Gas Attack During Concert

Ricky Martin was forced to halt a concert and rush to safety after a fan discharged a tear gas canister during his performance in Montenegro on 21 May. The singer is now safe, according to his team.

Incident Details

His publicist, Róndine Alcalá, issued a statement on Instagram explaining the events. She said: 'During Ricky Martin's concert tonight in Montenegro - where the artist was kicking off the European leg of his Ricky Martin Live tour - an individual discharged tear gas toward the stage, causing an abrupt interruption of the show as audience members moved away from the area and received assistance.'

Alcalá added that Martin and his team left the stage immediately as a precautionary measure, while security and local authorities contained the situation and assisted concert-goers near the canister.

Decision to Continue

Although the artist's team advised against continuing the performance, once authorities confirmed the situation was under control and attendees could safely return, Ricky Martin decided to resume the concert to fulfil his commitment to fans. Alcalá concluded: 'Ricky Martin and his team are safe and grateful for the support and concern received following tonight's events in Montenegro.'

Tour Background

Martin is currently touring eight countries across Europe as part of his world tour. He is set to continue in mid-June with performances in Moldova, Serbia, Croatia, and Italy before heading to Switzerland for the Pully Live Festival. After the festival, he will play in Germany, the Czech Republic, and return to the USA for a festival in Illinois in August.

The Puerto Rican singer has been on the road since performing with Bad Bunny at the Super Bowl Halftime Show in February. Benito enlisted several famous faces for cameos, including Lady Gaga, Cardi B, Jessica Alba, and Pedro Pascal. Martin's cameo came after Lady Gaga sang 'Die With A Smile' and he performed an acoustic version of Bad Bunny's 'Lo Que Le Paso A Hawaii'.

Family Support

Martin started his tour in South America, joined by his teenage sons, 17-year-old twins Valentino and Matteo. The pair were seen in matching outfits as they stepped off a private plane in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The singer also has a daughter, seven-year-old Lucia, and a son, six-year-old Renn, with his ex-husband Jwan Yosef. When accepting the Latin Icon Award at the 2025 VMAs, he dedicated it to his children, saying: 'Everything I do, I do with you in my mind and in my heart.'
