Police renew appeal a month after baby Ceri found

North Wales Police have issued a fresh appeal for information one month after the body of baby Ceri was discovered on the shoreline of the Menai Strait near Bangor. The investigation into the circumstances of her death and the search for her mother, who has not yet been identified, remain ongoing.

Investigation launched in September

The investigation was launched on September 27 following the discovery of the baby's body. Officers have since reviewed hundreds of hours of CCTV footage, responded to submissions from the public, and distributed over 2,000 leaflets to those living and working locally.

A police spokesperson said: "Officers are renewing their appeal for information one month following the tragic discovery of baby Ceri's body on the Bangor shoreline. An investigation was launched on September 27 to find out the circumstances of her death and to locate her mother, who has not yet been identified."

Specialist tests and ongoing enquiries

"All possible lines of enquiry are being followed and we are continuing to work with experts on several specialist tests, which we hope may provide us with new avenues to explore," the spokesperson added.

Superintendent Llinos Davies said: "We remain determined to get answers for baby Ceri. Officers are tirelessly investigating the circumstances surrounding her death and are continuing to appeal to her mother, father or family to come forward."

Post-mortem findings

Home Office pathologist Dr Brian Rodgers conducted a post-mortem examination on the body of baby Ceri. Police have confirmed that preliminary findings suggest she may have been in the water for up to a few weeks.

Davies added: "This has been a heartbreaking case for the community of Bangor and beyond. The support and compassion we've received has been unwavering as we continue to appeal for any information that could be relevant to finding out what happened to Baby Ceri. Our dedicated phone line for Baby Ceri's mother remains available at all times to speak to a trained specialist who will listen and support her."
