A care home in Chorley has issued an apology after staff members were filmed dancing in incontinence pants and sharing the video on TikTok. The footage, which appeared to mock residents, led to the suspension of three employees at Gillibrand Hall.
Century Healthcare, the company that runs the home, expressed extreme disappointment over the incident. The video has since been removed, and the company confirmed that no residents were directly involved in the filming.
In a statement, a representative said: 'Whilst we cannot breach confidentiality, we would like to give assurances that appropriate and proportional action has been taken.' The company also sent a reminder to all staff about their duty of care and the importance of confidentiality and professionalism.
The video showed staff laughing and dancing while wearing incontinence pants or carrying cushions with face masks. One clip featured a staff member in a reclining chair with the Westlife song You Raise Me Up playing in the background.
Century Healthcare has informed the Care Quality Commission (CQC) about the incident and is scheduled to meet with the local authority's safeguarding officer. The company stated it had 'acted swiftly to prevent anything like this occurring again.'
The CQC confirmed it was aware of the incident and was liaising with the provider to ensure necessary actions are taken to keep people safe. It added that while it does not investigate individual incidents, it uses all information to inform monitoring and inspections.
