Greater Manchester Police has issued a third appeal to help locate a missing pensioner who was last seen walking his dog in Radcliffe four days ago.
Anthony, 69, was last seen at approximately 4pm on Sunday, November 1, while walking his dog in Radcliffe, a suburb of Bury in Greater Manchester. His dog was found several hours later near the junction of Higher Ainsworth Road and Bury and Bolton Road, roughly a mile from the Royal Oak pub on Water Street, where he was last seen.
Search efforts intensify
Multiple search teams, including an underwater search unit, are now working to locate Anthony, who was last seen wearing a blue puffer coat and jeans. In the new appeal, officers have released an image of the dog lead they believe Anthony was using when he disappeared, which has yet to be recovered.
Detective Inspector Steven Horton said: "We are becoming increasingly concerned for Anthony's welfare and officers are working alongside our partners, including Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, as we continue our search."
Possible canal path route
Police believe Anthony could have walked onto a canal path behind the Royal Oak pub on Sunday. Horton urged anyone familiar with the surrounding area or who regularly uses the route to remain vigilant and contact police with any information.
"We are also releasing an image of the lead we believe Anthony was using to walk his dog when he went missing. This lead has not been found and anyone who comes across it, or thinks they have seen it, is being encouraged to call us on 101 or report online," he said.
One line of enquiry
While underwater search teams are involved in the operation, the hypothesis that Anthony could have entered water is just one line of enquiry being explored. Horton added: "Our priority is bringing Anthony home to his family who we are supporting during this particularly distressing time."
Anyone with information regarding Anthony's whereabouts is urged to contact police on 101 or online, quoting log number 4055 of 1 November 2026 when making contact.
