Police hunt woman who tried to grab girl at West Ham station

British Transport Police are searching for a woman who approached a seven-year-old girl at West Ham Underground station, told her she wanted to "grab" her, and attempted to take her hand before fleeing the scene.

The incident took place at 8.30pm on Thursday, October 15, at the station. The woman approached the girl, who was with her father, and began a conversation with the child before making the comment and trying to hold her hand.

When the father quickly moved his daughter out of reach, the woman allegedly tried to convince onlookers that he was the one kidnapping the girl. She then ran off.

Detectives have released CCTV images of a woman they believe may hold "vital" information about the investigation. She is described as white with blonde hair and was wearing a baseball cap, black clothing, and a jacket with a distinctive inverted triangle on the shoulder. She appeared to be carrying a bottle of wine.

British Transport Police Detective Constable Chris Petty said: "We appreciate reports of this nature are concerning and I would like to reassure the public that we are doing all we can to identify the woman in question.

Public urged to contact police
