Police Dog Lando helped catch two suspects and recover key evidence after a cloned vehicle linked to a series of burglaries was stopped. PD Lando was called to assist officers on Tuesday evening (October 13) following the sighting of the vehicle by a police helicopter.
Vehicle stopped in Raglan after stinger deployment
The vehicle was eventually stopped in the Raglan area, after officers deployed a stinger device, deflating its tyres. The driver was arrested by police, while the passenger fled on foot across a ploughed field.
Ground pursuit and evidence recovery
With a police helicopter tracking the passenger from above, PD Lando pursued the suspect on the ground. The passenger was soon caught and handcuffed. PD Lando then searched an area identified by the helicopter, where the suspect was believed to have discarded items, leading to the discovery of two pieces of evidence.
Two men arrested and in custody
Following the chase, two men were arrested. A 43-year-old man from the Cardiff area was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of a class A drug and going equipped for burglary. Meanwhile, a 49-year-old man from the Merthyr Tydfil area was arrested on suspicion of seven offences including burglary, drug driving, going equipped for burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and driving with no insurance. Both remain in police custody.
