South Wales Police has implemented a Section 35 dispersal order at Langland Bay in Gower, one of Wales's most popular beaches, to address antisocial behaviour during an ongoing heatwave. The order, effective from 5pm on Friday, July 10, until 5pm on Sunday, July 12, grants officers the authority to disperse crowds engaged in any form of antisocial conduct. This measure follows a similar order issued just weeks earlier during a previous hot spell.
Heatwave Intensifies Concerns
Wales is experiencing another period of hot weather, with temperatures forecast to reach 30°C in many parts of south Wales on Friday. The combination of high temperatures and beachgoers has historically led to incidents of antisocial behaviour, prompting police to take proactive steps. The dispersal order covers the beach area and includes the car park, as illustrated in a map released by the force.
Police Urge Responsible Behaviour
In addition to the dispersal order, South Wales Police is urging all visitors to stay safe during the hot weather. Recommendations include using sunscreen, staying hydrated, and enjoying the seafront areas respectfully. A police spokesperson said: "We want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable time at our beaches, but antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated. The dispersal order gives us the tools to intervene quickly if needed."

The latest order comes after reports of rowdy behaviour and overcrowding during previous heatwaves. Local residents and businesses have expressed concerns about noise, littering, and public drunkenness.
