Plain-clothed police seize £6,000 e-bikes in South Shields

Plain-clothed Northumbria Police officers seized two Sur-Ron e-bikes worth thousands of pounds during a weekend operation targeting anti-social behaviour in South Shields.

First seizure on Ocean Road

On Friday, officers patrolling Ocean Road spotted a Sur-Ron bike valued at approximately £6,000 and seized it. The operation continued on Sunday in the West Park area, where another brightly coloured Sur-Ron was also taken off the streets.

Police statement on tactics

In a social media post, a Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Plain-clothed patrols are just one tactic we use to make a difference to our communities and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to taking action against the issues which matter most to you. Thank you to the members of the public who continue to work with us and report motorbike-related disorder."

Public urged to report

Police are asking the public to provide detailed information when reporting motorbike-related disorder, including: exactly what happened and where; a description of the bike (registration, colours, make, model, distinctive features like stickers); a description of the riders (number, clothing, helmets); and any information on where the vehicles may be stored.
