Woman Critical After Stabbing in Oldham, Suspect at Large

A woman in her 20s is fighting for her life in hospital after a stabbing in Oldham, Greater Manchester. Police were called to Greenwood Street in Greenacres at around 10.40pm on Friday, March 27, following reports of an assault. Officers found the woman with serious injuries consistent with a stabbing.

She was taken to hospital where she remains in critical condition. No arrests have been made, and the suspect is still at large, according to Greater Manchester Police (GMP). A large cordon remains in place, blocking parts of Spring Street, Raper Street and Greenwood Street.

Crime scene investigation units, sniffer dogs and several police vehicles were at the scene shortly after 2pm on Saturday, March 28. Residents reported seeing police tape go up on Friday night, with some saying they only became aware of the incident on Saturday morning.

Chief Inspector Ian Partington said: 'I would like to reassure the community that incidents of this nature are taken extremely seriously and our officers are currently exhausting all lines of enquiry to locate the suspect. A scene remains in place and our officers have worked through the night to conduct their investigation.'

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as enquiries continue.
