A 22-year-old landscaper was shot dead in Dayton, Ohio, after an argument with a neighbour over grass clippings, police have said.
Tanner Staggs was trimming a client's yard with his crew on 18 September when neighbour Travis Jackson confronted him about grass and mud on his vehicle, according to court documents. The argument escalated, and Jackson allegedly shot Staggs multiple times on the sidewalk.
Staggs was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, where he died from his injuries. Jackson, 36, was arrested the same day and charged with two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault and discharging a firearm. He admitted to the shooting and showed officers where he had hidden the gun, a Glock 43X, police said.
Staggs' employer, Dunham's Lawn Care, paid tribute to him on Facebook, describing him as a positive team player and a leader. A GoFundMe campaign set up to cover funeral costs said Staggs was a hardworking, strong-willed individual who loved baseball, animals, and music.
Jackson is being held in the Montgomery County Jail without bond.
