Greater Manchester Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a woman in Bolton. Officers were called to reports of an assault on Yewdale Avenue, in Breightmet, at around 3.15am on August 4.
Woman pronounced dead at scene
A woman, aged in her 40s, was found unresponsive with significant injuries. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.
Police cordon in place
A property on Yewdale Avenue has been cordoned off, with police and forensics working at the scene. Detectives are also in attendance. Residents reported a large emergency services presence from around 4am.
Greater Manchester Police say a scene will remain in place and there will be an increased police presence in the area while enquiries continue.
