Human remains discovered in the River Taw have been formally identified as those of missing teenager Taylor Charlton, Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed.
The 14-year-old from North Devon was last seen in Barnstaple on Friday, 8 May. The remains were found on 24 June, with police confirming the identity on 31 July. His family has been informed and is continuing to receive support from specialist officers.
A large-scale search and investigation was launched after Taylor was reported missing, with the local community and emergency services working tirelessly in an effort to find him.
An ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death remains under way, with detectives working to establish the full facts. Two individuals arrested in connection with the investigation remain on police bail as enquiries continue.
