Kada Scott, a 23-year-old former beauty pageant contestant from Philadelphia, remains missing more than a week after disappearing following her overnight shift at an assisted living facility. She was last seen on October 4, clocking in for her shift at The Terrace at Chestnut Hill, but never arrived home the next morning.
Keon King, 21, has been charged in connection with her abduction and faces an additional kidnapping charge in what investigators described as a disturbing pattern. Assistant District Attorney Ashley Toczylowski said King is believed to be the last person in contact with Scott when she went offline.
Police say Scott had only worked at the facility for about two weeks and left early that night. Her car remained in the parking lot, but her phone, iPad, keys and other belongings were missing. Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore said evidence indicates she communicated with an individual who met her shortly after she left work, after which she disappeared.
Investigators have searched multiple locations, including the Awbury Arboretum in East Germantown, where her phone last pinged, and later found a 1999 metallic gold Toyota Camry with front-end damage belonging to King. On October 15, a search of an abandoned school near the arboretum uncovered physical evidence linking Scott to the area, including her card and a phone case, but she was not found.
King's history has also come under scrutiny, with prosecutors revealing he was previously accused of kidnapping and assaulting another woman earlier this year, though that case was dropped. Scott's mother, Kim Matthews, pleaded publicly for her daughter's safe return: 'I just need her to come home and be safe.'
