Two masked men broke into a home on Stanford Crescent in Halewood and attacked a woman inside, leaving her with multiple injuries. Police received a report of the aggravated burglary at around 9.30pm on Wednesday, September 2.
The men threatened the woman and demanded money, then searched the house and took cash and cigarettes. The woman suffered a laceration to her left foot and swelling and bruising to her face.
Police appeal for witnesses
CCTV and forensic enquiries are ongoing. Detective Inspector Kevin O'Rourke described the incident as "a truly terrifying incident that has left a woman with multiple injuries inside her home where she should feel safe."
He appealed to anyone who was on Stanford Crescent that night and saw a black estate car to contact police. He also urged people in the area to check doorbell and dashcam footage for anything captured from that night.
Investigation ongoing
DI O'Rourke said the use of weapons on the streets "is reckless and will not be tolerated, and can have tragic consequences, not only for the victim but also for the offenders involved."
