A brazen armed robbery shocked residents in London's upscale Marylebone neighbourhood yesterday afternoon, as a gang of masked thieves targeted an exclusive jewellery store.
According to eyewitnesses, at least three individuals - their faces concealed - entered the Bonnie Blue shop on New Cavendish Street around 3:30 pm. The assailants, armed with what appeared to be firearms, threatened staff before smashing display cases and seizing an undisclosed quantity of high-value items.
Daring Getaway on Mopeds
The criminals made their escape on waiting mopeds, a method increasingly favoured by London's organised crime groups. Metropolitan Police confirmed they responded within minutes but the gang had already vanished into the city's streets.
"This was a terrifying experience for staff and customers present," said Detective Inspector Sarah Henderson, leading the investigation. "We're pursuing several lines of enquiry and reviewing CCTV footage from the area."
Shop Owner Devastated
The boutique jewellery store, known for its unique Greek-inspired designs, had only recently reopened following pandemic restrictions. Owner Eleni Papadopoulos expressed her distress: "We're a small, family-run business. These pieces represent years of craftsmanship - it's not just about monetary value."
Forensic teams remained at the scene late into the evening, while police appealed for any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage to come forward. The incident has raised concerns among local businesses about escalating bold criminal activity in central London.
