Greater Manchester Police have launched an urgent manhunt for Marwan Jumaa, 20, a ‘high-risk’ prisoner who escaped from North Manchester Hospital on Tuesday evening while receiving medical treatment. Jumaa is serving an indefinite sentence in a secure hospital after being convicted of two robberies in which two women and police officers suffered serious injuries.

Where was he last seen?

Jumaa was last seen in the Radcliffe area and has links to Bury, Prestwich, Crumpsall, as well as London and West Yorkshire. Officers have warned the public not to approach him if spotted, but to call 999 immediately.

Police deployment and investigation

Specialist officers, including the Force Critical Wanted Unit, have been deployed as the search enters its second day. Detective Superintendent Amber Waywell said: ‘We are undertaking extensive work in our search for Jumaa, utilising all necessary resources and officers in order to return him to lawful custody. We have no information to suggest any intention to inflict imminent harm, but ultimately, he is a wanted and dangerous individual.’
