Patrick (Patsy) O'Sullivan, who vanished in 1992, has been found dead overseas, bringing a 34-year mystery to an end. Gardaí have confirmed his remains were located and his family have been informed.
Disappearance in 1992
O'Sullivan was 35 when he went missing in April 1992. His last contact with his family was in Lombardstown, County Cork, Ireland, during the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, following his return from a job in County Kerry. He was expected to visit his family in the coming weeks for a Christening but never arrived.
He frequently travelled away for work lasting weeks across various locations, yet he consistently kept in touch with loved ones and returned home regularly.
Family's search and renewed plea
Throughout the years, his relatives refused to abandon hope of finding him. As recently as July this year, they launched a renewed plea for information, using social media to reach out to people in County Kerry and elsewhere for any details they might possess, regardless of how minor, according to Cork Beo.
His disappearance featured on Crimecall on multiple occasions, including last year when he would have reached 68 years of age.
Gardaí confirmation
Patsy was the middle child among seven siblings, with his two brothers previously telling RTÉ about the anguish they have endured. His brother Jerry said: "He just stopped coming home." Jerry also remembered him as having a "heart of gold", while their other sibling Eugene said he always "enjoyed his life to the full."
A Gardaí spokesperson said: "The missing person, Patrick (Patsy) O'Sullivan, whose last known contact with his family was in Lombardstown, County Cork in April 1992, has been located. An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and public for their assistance."
