A man in his 20s has died and a teenage boy is fighting for his life after a stabbing at a skate park in Northampton. Emergency services were called to the park in Ringway, Briar Hill, at around 3:45pm on Wednesday following reports that two people had been stabbed during an altercation.
Despite the efforts of members of the public and paramedics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The teenage boy was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in a critical condition. Northamptonshire Police have launched a murder investigation.
Four people have been arrested in connection with the incident, including two teenage boys, a man and a woman, all from Northampton. They remain in police custody. Detective Chief Inspector Torie Harrison of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit described the incident as tragic and appealed for witnesses to come forward.
High-visibility police patrols are being conducted in the area to reassure the local community. A police cordon remains in place at the park, and several roads are affected. West Northamptonshire Council expressed shock and sadness over the incident.
