A man in his 70s has died following a road traffic collision on Clapham High Street in London. Police and paramedics were called to the scene shortly after 11am on 22 May.
The incident involved a pedestrian and a heavy goods vehicle (HGV). Despite the efforts of emergency services, including London's Air Ambulance, the man was pronounced dead at 11:36am.
A stretch of Clapham High Street was cordoned off, and nearby stores including a Sainsbury's and an M&S Foodhall were closed. The Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
The London Ambulance Service said they sent ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, an incident response officer, and the air ambulance. A spokesperson expressed that despite the best efforts of crews, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
