Man hurt in Tranmere dog attack; police seek owner

A man in his 30s was left with deep lacerations to his arm after being bitten by a large dog while walking along Tudor Road in Tranmere. Merseyside Police are appealing for witnesses following the attack, which occurred at around 11.20am on Tuesday, November 3.

Attack on Tudor Road

The victim was walking towards Park Road when the dog, which was with its owner, bit him on the arm. The dog eventually released its grip despite the owner's attempts to pull it away.

Following a brief interaction, the owner and the dog walked off along Park Road before turning onto Oriel Road. The dog is described as large, with long brown hair, and is believed to be either a Bernese Mountain Dog or a Caucasian Shepherd.

Police appeal for information

The victim suffered two deep lacerations to his arm and required hospital treatment. Enquiries are ongoing to identify the dog and its owner.

Neighbourhood Inspector Nicola Hughes said: "We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or knows who the dog's owner is to please contact us as a matter of urgency.

"The victim sustained puncture wounds to his arm and was left understandably distressed by the attack.

"It is imperative that we identify the dog and its owner as quickly as possible so it cannot harm anyone else."
