Man found dead at West Kirby Marine Lake named

A man found dead at West Kirby Marine Lake on the Wirral has been named as Mohammed Rahman-Harries, 43, of Carpenter’s Road, Birmingham. The inquest into his death heard it was 'unnatural' and a police investigation is underway.

Discovery at the Marine Lake

An investigation was launched on September 15 after a man was found unresponsive on the tidal side of the wall at West Kirby Marine Lake. Merseyside Police attended the lake site, which extends into the River Dee, and found the man dead on the rocks of the outer edge. The force said it was unclear how long he had been there.

North Wales Police is now leading the investigation as it is believed the man entered the water around the Flint Castle area during the evening of Monday, September 14.

Inquest and Identification

Yesterday (Monday, October 19), an inquest was opened at Ruthin, North Wales, into the man's death. He was named as Mohammed Rahman-Harries, 43, of Carpenter’s Road, Birmingham. He was born in Llanelli and his body was spotted near rocks at Marine Lake.

Home Office pathologist Dr Brian Rodgers conducted a post-mortem examination but the cause of death has been withheld for tests. Coroner John Gittins added: “However, this is clearly a death which is unnatural.”

Appeal for Information

The inquest was adjourned. Detectives have appealed for anyone who saw him to get in touch.
