Man Dies in Shark Attack at Rottnest Island

A 38-year-old man has died after being attacked by a shark off Rottnest Island, Western Australia, on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to Horseshoe Reef, near the popular tourist destination, at around 9:55 am local time. The man was reportedly bitten while in the water and was brought to shore by boat at Geordie Bay, where paramedics treated him but he could not be revived.

A five-metre white shark was spotted 80 metres offshore around the time of the attack, according to Surf Life Saving WA. The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development has urged people to exercise extra caution in the Geordie Bay area.
