Man Dies at Cork Music Festival, Event Cancelled

Gardai have launched an investigation after a man in his late 40s was found unresponsive in his tent at the Love Is A Stranger Festival at Ballyvolane House near Fermoy, East Cork. Emergency services were alerted, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The remainder of the festival has been cancelled.

Victim Identified as Local DJ

The deceased is understood to be a DJ well-known within the Cork music scene, regularly promoting and performing in the city and beyond. His family has been informed of the tragic news.

Festival Organisers Devastated

In a statement, the organisers said: "We are absolutely devastated to learn of the death of a festival attendee today. Our thoughts are with the individual's family, friends, and loved ones at this extremely difficult time. We are assisting An Garda Síochána and the emergency services in every way possible, and will not comment further while their inquiries are ongoing."

The organisers added: "Out of respect for those affected, today's closing concert has been cancelled. We would like to thank the emergency services, our crew, volunteers and attendees and hosts for their support and understanding."

Event Cancelled

The Love Is A Stranger Festival, a roving mini-festival, was in its second edition. The second day of music and performances was called off following the incident.
