A man has been charged with the alleged murder of his partner and two children in a case that senior New South Wales police have described as among the most horrific they have ever dealt with.

The 47-year-old man was arrested at the family's home in Campbelltown on Monday night after he contacted Triple Zero. When officers arrived, they allegedly found his partner and two boys with serious injuries throughout the property. The man was subsequently charged with three counts of domestic violence murder after cooperating with police during an overnight interview. He was later refused bail.
