Suspected 'Fake' Admiral Charged After Gatecrashing Ceremony
A 64-year-old man has been charged with illegally wearing a military uniform after he allegedly posed as a senior officer at a Remembrance Sunday event in Llandudno. Jonathan Carley, from Harlech in Gwynedd, was arrested at his home earlier today following the incident that occurred 40 miles away.
Swift Police Action Following Public Concern
North Wales Police responded to reports of a man wearing a uniform bearing the marks of His Majesty's forces without permission. Chief Inspector Trystan Bevan stated: 'We understand that this incident has caused significant public concern, particularly given its occurrence on Remembrance Sunday.' He confirmed that officers acted swiftly to make an arrest and proceed with charges, urging the public to avoid online speculation that could compromise future court proceedings.
Wreath-Laying and Suspicious Medals
Carley is accused of bluffing his way into the ceremony, where he reportedly laid a wreath alongside genuine senior army officers. His elaborate uniform, featuring a row of medals that appeared to include the Distinguished Service Order and the Queen's Volunteer Reserves Medal on the left-hand side, raised suspicions amongst attendees. Jonathan Carley is scheduled to appear at Caernarfon magistrates' court on December 11 to face the charges.
