A man has been charged after a woman, child, and several police officers were allegedly assaulted in East Renfrewshire. The incident occurred around 9am on Monday, June 15, when police responded to a disturbance on Braeside Drive in Barrhead.
Incident Details
According to reports, a man was seen running around the area and entering cars before a woman and child were allegedly assaulted. It is understood that multiple police officers were also assaulted, though the exact number has not been confirmed.
A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He was due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Tuesday, June 16.
Scene Footage
Footage from the scene shows an individual being restrained on the ground by four uniformed police officers. Worried onlookers gathered in the background as a scuffle between the man and officers continued. Officers placed a spit mask over the individual's mouth before another struggle ensued.
Police eventually placed the man into the back of a police van and instructed locals to stand back. Multiple police vans with flashing blue lights were present in the area, along with a heavy police presence.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9am on Monday, 15 June, 2026, officers received a report of a disturbance on Braeside Drive, Barrhead. A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection and is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Tuesday, June 16, 2026."
