A 55-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a two-vehicle collision on the A690 in Willington, County Durham. One person was taken to hospital after the incident, which happened just after 7.35am on Wednesday, August 26.
Collision details
The crash occurred on Commercial Street, between Teasdales Yard and Stony Bank, and involved a car and a pick-up truck. The man, who was driving the car, remains in police custody. The road was closed for a short time for vehicle recovery but has since reopened.
Durham Constabulary said no-one is believed to have been seriously injured in the incident. The build-up of traffic caused by the collision has now cleared.
Ambulance response
The North East Ambulance Service was called to the incident at 7.41am and dispatched one ambulance crew. One patient was treated and discharged at the scene, while another was taken to University Hospital of North Durham for further treatment.

The incident involved a car and a pick-up truck. No-one is believed to have been seriously injured. The driver of the car, a 55-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. He was taken into police custody where he remains. The road was closed while the vehicles were recovered but it has since reopened."
