A large-scale search operation is continuing for a man who went missing after getting into difficulty in the water off a beach in Cornwall. HM Coastguard received reports of concern for the individual at Polzeath on Sunday, April 19, at approximately 4.35pm.
Multiple rescue teams were dispatched to Greenaway beach, including Polzeath and Boscastle Coastguard Rescue Teams, an HM Coastguard helicopter, and RNLI lifeboats from Padstow and Rock. Devon and Cornwall Police and the South Western Ambulance Service also attended the scene.
A second man was reported to have entered the water but managed to recover himself to land safely. The identity of the missing man has not been released, and searches remain ongoing, according to a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police.
The coastguard confirmed that the search effort is continuing, with no further details provided at this stage. The incident has prompted a major response from emergency services in the area.
